Education, encouragement and leadership, those are the keys to real estate agent Susan Teixeira’s new role as president elect for 2009 of the Women’s Council of Realtors in Placer County.
Elected recently by her peers, the Lyon Real Estate agent from Auburn will be in charge of providing education opportunities for fellow Women’s Council of Realtors members and organizing and managing fundraisers for local charities.
“I’m very excited about it,” Teixeira said of her appointment. “I’m looking forward to assisting Realtors within this industry, to give them options with their business.”
First launched as a division of the National Association of Realtors in 1938, the Women’s Council of Realtors now has more than 18,000 members nationwide and more than 300 local and state chapters.
Some of the benefits and services the Women’s Council of Realtors provides include networking and referral opportunities, which allow members to expand their business, and a support system that allows fellow members to seek advice from each other.
The organization also offers its own Realtor designation, the Performance Management Network, which allows members to adapt in a changing real estate market.
Working in the real estate industry since 1989, Teixeira enjoys the opportunity to work with a group — which is the 12th ranked women’s professional organization out of 700 — that is focused on providing professional service with a true concern for customers’ satisfaction.
Along with educating her fellow members in the Placer County region, Teixeira also plans to spread the benefits of the Women’s Council of Realtors to other local areas that might not know the benefits of such an organization.
“Nevada County doesn’t have a presence, nor do a lot of areas of Auburn. I want to introduce Auburn to this,” she said. “I want them to see the benefit and the value, I just think it would be a wonderful thing.”
Teixeira’s fellow members are looking forward to her leadership in the Women’s Council of Realtors.
“I think she has a positive attitude No. 1. And No. 2, she brings a lot of enthusiasm,” said Sherri Souza, California State Treasurer for the Women’s Council of Realtors for 2008. “She has a lot of leadership skills that she can put forward for her chapter.”
