Arborist to discuss tree pruning skills
Friends of the Auburn Library will host a presentation and slide show by certified arborist Jean Pliska on "The Proper and only Way to Prune" at noon Friday, Feb. 18 in the Beecher Room of the Auburn Library on Nevada Street in Auburn.
The presentation will focus on teaching the basic skills of target pruning of native and ornamental trees. Bring a bag lunch. The program is free.
Garden show trip
The Sacramento Perennial Plant Club's seventh annual bus trip to the San Francisco Flower & Garden Show will be Friday, March 18.
One bus will depart from Shepard Garden and Art Center in McKinley Park in Sacramento and a second bus from Bushnell Garden Nursery on Douglas Boulevard in Granite Bay. Both buses will leave promptly at 6:45 a.m. and return at approximately 8:45 p.m.
The $50 fee includes the bus trip, a ticket to the show and refreshments.

Donner Garden Club
Donner Garden Club's regular meeting will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 825 Drake Drive, Newcastle.
Myrtle Findley, past district director of Golden Foothills, will present a program on simple flower designs. The designs will be raffled at the meeting.
Findley is a flower show judge, gardening consultant, a member of Colfax Garden Club and Auburn Arrangers. She is chairman of the Flower Show School being held April 5-7, at Bell Road Baptist Church, Auburn.

Rose pruning
Green Acres Nursery & Supply will offer a workshop on rose pruning and bare-root planting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5. Green Acres employees Phil Beardwood and Caesar Bobila will demonstrate how to beautify a rose garden through proper pruning techniques. They also will discuss the value of bare-root planting. The nursery is located at 901 Galleria Blvd., Roseville.
