Earlier this month the 2010 Placer County Women’s Council of Realtors officer installation luncheon took place in Sacramento.
Installed as president was Auburn Realtor Susan Teixeira, the first Auburn resident to hold the position.
The Women’s Council of Realtors (WCR) of the National Association of Realtors is the 11th largest women’s organization in the nation. It was established in 1938 in Chicago.
Gail Hartnett, who was the 2006 national president of the Women’s Council of Realtors and a current candidate for an Idaho state legislator seat, was the keynote speaker on the topic of “Women in Leadership.”
Hartnett told the audience to expect good things from the new group of leadership officers. She then installed the following incoming officers for the 2010 Placer County chapter: Susan Teixeira, president; Fran Schreck, president elect; Yve Balasa, vice president of membership; Gary Kee, secretary; Jessica Mathews-Sandler, treasurer.
The installation featured several local dignitaries, including Auburn resident Lori Wilson of Property I.D., who held the position of mistress of ceremonies. Property ID was the event host.
Auburn Mayor Bridget Powers started the event with a speech titled “Women of Influence.”
Gene Thorpe, the incoming 2010 president of the Placer County Association of Realtors, led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Shelly Herrod said the Women’s Council of Realtors’ mission and vision statements.
Auburn businesswomen in attendance were Keri Roeder of Yamasaki Nursery, Juanita Holmes of First Northern Bank and Denise Tomczak of Tomczak & Co. CPA.
Other festivities during the installation included awards of appreciation to past officers and committee members and awards for Realtor of the Year, Affiliate of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year.
