Many residents agree mobile home park living offers a very good quality of life.
Just a small sampling of area residents reveals that a major benefit of park living is they feel safe, enjoy the pretty, scenic grounds and feel there is good value for rent paid.
But that’s not all, there’s fun activities, too, including social activities they can choose to participate in. There’s no need to be alone, whether you are married or single, as residents can enjoy a community of peers.
Activities such as get-togethers, barbecues, parties, card games, bingo and the annual yard sale are all fun events that draw a community together and make for a comfortable lifestyle.
One Auburn park offers a co-op garden area jokingly called “back-breaker acres.” Residents can apply for their own 20-foot-by-20-foot plot and grow their own vegetables.
Another important benefit to living in a mobile home park is peace of mind and security.
According Rock Creek resident, Ed Ramsey, parks offer nice homes at an affordable price, without all the necessary upkeep. This gives he and wife, Carol, a lot more time to enjoy life and less time needed to prune the trees.
Woodside Park resident, Larry Turner, mentioned the abundance of social activities, but also says excellent park management has really added to his experience.
Each park does have its own set of regulations. In most cases, the lot is leased and a monthly space rent is charged. Rent amounts vary by park, and in some cases, by location within the park.
Space rent could include garbage, water or cable, but it varies by park. Heather Glen Mobile Home Park is the exception in that ownership includes both the home and lot.
Auburn’s parks are all senior 55-and-over parks, however at least two allow a spouse to be under the age of 55.
Most parks allow a small pet, usually under 25 pounds. Because bringing your beloved pet along can be a huge issue, call park management to be sure.
Auburn, unfortunately, does not have a family park, but we’re hopeful. A family park would offer an affordable entry in an area that could sure use it.
Family parks can be found in Grass Valley, Foresthill, Meadow Vista, Loomis and Rocklin.
Anyone considering park life should certainly inquire and an application should always be submitted and approved before entering into escrow.
Most parks have management offices right on site, and some will tell you of available homes.
If it’s an easier, safe, less complicated life you’re seeking, maybe mobile home park living is just the ticket for you.
